Engel, the global leader in polymer injection molding machines, expanded its headquarters in Schwertberg, Austria, by adding new production halls. During this expansion, the existing kitchen and buffet line serving 900 guests daily were replaced with a temporary kitchen. <\/p>\n<\/div> <\/header>\r\n

Usage of existing buildings<\/h2>

The existing kitchen and food distribution had to be relocated during the construction phase, while the dining hall remained in use. Telia constructed a temporary kitchen with all necessary ancillary functions and a buffet line in a lightweight hall with direct access to the dining hall. This setup ensured that the approximately 900 daily lunch guests continued to be served as usual, despite the nearby construction. <\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

\n Safety first<\/span>

Integration with the fire alarm system<\/h2>

For kitchen and tent or hall constructions, Telia exclusively uses fire-resistant (Classification B1) or non-combustible (A1) materials. Given the proximity of the temporary kitchen to ongoing construction and production, fire protection was a primary concern during planning. The lightweight hall was designed as a separate fire compartment, with fire safety measures implemented at the transition to the dining hall, including designated escape routes. Additionally, the temporary kitchen was integrated into the site’s fire alarm system. <\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

\n Sustainable kitchen planning<\/span>

Protection of the company landmark<\/h2>

The required placement of the temporary kitchen conflicted with a landmark from the company’s founding era. Relocating the gingerbread tree\u2014a symbol of growth and sustainability\u2014was not an option. To accommodate the tree\u2019s position, the lightweight hall was extensively modified and adjusted to fit the tree\u2019s location. This approach ensured that the construction phase did not impact the landmark. <\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

During the renovation of the existing dining hall, Telia set up a temporary food service area in the auditorium event area of the ADAC headquarters. The solution includes the planning and implementation of food service, regeneration kitchen and logistics areas.<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/a>\n \n

Production kitchen with decentralised food distribution<\/h3>

Sch\u00fctz<\/p>\n<\/div>

A temporary kitchen for staff catering has been set up at the Sch\u00fctz headquarters in Selters. It will be in operation for 36 months. Telia is responsible for planning and implementing the technical building equipment and all the commercial kitchen technology.<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/a>\n \n

An interim kitchen with extended storage capacity was implemented for the renovation of the Brenner Operngrill. The Brenner Operngrill is considered one of the top addresses in Munich.<\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/a>\n \n

Supply solution for emergency shelter in the Federal State of Bavaria<\/h3>

A fully equipped temporary canteen was set up for an emergency shelter run by the Federal state of Bavaria. The facility provides meals for around 500 people every day, who are housed in a modular container facility for 24 months. <\/p>\n<\/div> <\/div>\n<\/a>\n \n
